Welcome Aboard

Filed Under (First Steps) by Lilian on 21-01-2008 and tagged

Hello Bloggers,

Welcome to my brand new blog. This will be my play area until I master the blogging skills and tools and be ready to start a blog with my students.

TEFL Hard Times has nothing to do with Dickens’ masterpiece. It’s a place where we, TEFLers, can share our hard moments and seek support and help from each other. We all have those moments and we appreciate whatever advice or support we could get. So, let’s share and care.

I’ll appreciate all the comments and suggestions you can leave me here to learn and grow in the blogsphere. Will be waiting for your comments.

That was a very good start! I like the ‘clean’ templates that you can find on Edublogs/Wordpress blogs. Congrats!

    Dear Liliam,

This topic is really exciting and bond to engage educators in interesting conversations on the challenges and struggles we have in our profession. We tend to emphasize the positive aspects of teaching in an EFL setting, but by discussing what doesn’t work, we can really learn from one another, find out we’re not alone, and seek for solutions for our daily problems.

    Fantastic, exciting idea!

Don’t forget to add the “blogging4educators” tag to all your post from now on.

    Hi Liliam,

i can finally see your blog. Welcome to blogsphere!
we are neighbors now, I guess! :-)

I also started with a template similar to yours. Like Monica says I also think a clean look is important. Then I went on to something a little bit more colorful, as I was able to learn how to edit my template. we will look at that too.
Don’t you just love it here.
Do you know what I like best about blogs?

    DOn’t you love it too.

Looking forward to the next posts! ;-)

    Lilliam,

I don’t know if you’ve ever done this before but I’d like to say that the idea is indeed exciting and I hope I can do a job as nice as yours.

    Congrats,

    Angela

    Hello Lilian!!

    You’ve had a brilliant idea!

We all need a friendly spot to discuss and share our difficult times with colleagues. I’ll definitely subscribe to this blog! ;)

I was just thinking whether it is also difficult in your area to engage teachers in learning about how to integrate technology in their classes. I think there are so many misconceptions in this area, e.g. that we need to be experts in technology, that we can’t foster interaction through “the computer” and many more…

Hopefully, we’ll be able to keep spreading the word together.

    Warm regards from Argentina,
    Carla R.

You have a great idea for your blog, Lillian! Conversations about “hard times” will offer educators an opportunity to engage in constructive dialog about challenges they face in the classroom. Too often we keep problems to ourselves, but really we can learn a lot from these experiences–they are our teachers. Congratulations on creating your blog, and I hope it continues to grow as you learn and connect more through this session and beyond!

Great start, Lilian, and what a great idea to have a site where colleagues share their experiences, even if they were hard at times. This way you create a win-win environment where one learn from one another.
I like the peaceful layout but pictures in the posts would probably be more inviting, especially for visual learner, like me.
    Keep up the great work!

Love the blog…and that you are also using edublogs! I’m still struggling with some of the formatting with my own blog–yours is so peaceful and calm…
    See you in the blogosphere!
