Who am I?

I’m Lilian Farag Allah, an Egyptian EFL teacher. For 14 years I’ve been involved in teaching English in different disciplines in Egypt, started as a Ministry of Education teacher, worked as a teacher trainer, and now a part-time teacher of General English, Business English and soft skills.

I’m one step from having my Master’s degree from the American University in Cairo, a degree that has been amazingly eye opening at different levels: academically, professionally, and personally.

I have been interested in technology for years. I can claim that I self-taught and trained myself on many of the skills I have now. I have integrated technology in my classes for years and for different purposes and in a variety of forms. I was hoping to do my MA thesis research on my two favorite areas: academic writing and technology. Yet, as I was aware that not many instructors in my university would be adventurous enough to experiment with my ideas, I compromised my hope and limited it to academic writing only. I’m clinging tightly to my dream to do further research on the use of technology (blogs in particular) in teaching academic writing.

Personally speaking, I’m a wife and mother of two lovely kids, Alfred (11) and Alvera (9). I owe much of my career success to my wonderfully supporting husband and parents.
